The Pre-Professional Program is a comprehensive program for those dancers ages 13-18 who want more extensive dance training to develop strength and artistry and are considering going on to University or Conservatory Dance programs or auditioning for concert dance companies. Our Pre-Professional division is designed to give dancers the training to be successful in fulfilling their future dance goals. Taught by professional dancers and teachers who themselves hold university degrees in Dance Performance or Dance Education and are members of various dance companies in the Denver/Boulder area. This program also includes assistance with college applications, researching summer dance intensives as well as scholarship opportunities.
There are two levels of dancers for this program, intermediate and advanced. Each dancer's level will be determined by skill and technique following auditions, not by age.
During Fall Session, PP dancers will be required to take 12 classes per week (9 for intermediate).
During Summer, PP dancers are required to attend take our two-week Intensive and, after a one week break, attend the 4 week Summer Session. During this session, advanced dancers are required to take 46 classes. Intermediate dancers are required to take 40 classes.
Required Weekly Summer Classes include:
Dancers in our Pre-Professional Program will attend one Dance Convention and have the option to participate in one Competition.
Competition and rehearsal fees are billed separately. PP dancers must also attend 4 master classes during the Fall season. Dancers will be showcased in their own Spring Concert, including student lead choreography as well as choreography by guest instructors. PP dancers will also participate in Children's Dance Theatre as well as dance in our Spring Recital.
Auditions for the Pre-Professional Program are held each Spring. Dancers must be 13 years of age by May 1st to audition.
